Krankenvesicherung..?
« am: 02.Nov 2013, 09:31 »
Hallo! :)

Hi,

it is correct that you will need a German health insurance if you want to study here. The insurance will pay a psychologist. As soon as you have your insurance card you can go to a psychologist. You get five appointments without any need for talking to your insurance. After the five appointments the psychologist will have to write a proposal for a psychotherapy, but he/she will do that for you.

The hormones, mastectomy, etc. is also payed by the insurance if certain conditions are fulfilled. That is that you have to be seeing your therapist for a while and you do the Real-Life Test, i.e., have to live "as a man" for some time. Then you can write a proposal for the treatment.

Hi Gollum. Thank you for your reply! :) Unfortunately I just saw it. Am I considered a permanent citizen as a student? Because that is the bit that confused me when I read about the law. :/ I couldn't clarify if I'm a permanent citizen or not after I register in the local Resident Registration office to get my residence permit.

Zitat
Am I considered a permanent citizen as a student?

Hm,  I don't know. When you want to live permanent in Germany, than I think the chance is good. Huh my horrible english. :-[

Perhaps get info from the english embassy in Germany. I think they know more.

https://www.gov.uk/government/world/organisations/british-embassy-berlin.de

Good luck.

Thank you for trying to help! I emailed the embassy of the country I come from in Germany. This is so complicated I hope I am allowed to have the insurance cover my transition because otherwise the procedures are extremely and expensive and my parents made it clear they won't back me up on this. Ah I want to cry just thinking about it, so complicated!  ??? :'(

Hey,

yes. It is complicated. The whole topic is just f****** complicated. I know how it feels when you think "How should I manage all this stuff." However, you are not alone with this problem. Do not panic. Just one step after the other. Just think of the next step and do not worry about the steps behind.

I did some research on the Internet. As a student it should be possible to get one of the "standard" German health insurances. In that case you get all the treatment that you need. Just be careful with the insurances that are especially for foreigners. They sometimes do not pay for illnesses that you know before coming to Germany. Some of them exclude psychotherapy.

Regards

Oh that's so nice of you ! Thank you so much. You don't know how much I appreciate the fact you sat down and searched stuff for me, words cannot express how much I want to thank you.:) I also asked my studies counselor only about if I'm allowed to get the same treatment and insurance as Germans and she said yes so I most probably am covered.

Thank you for the tips as well ! I'll try to make a thorough research before getting any insurances and ask the therapist etc. I guess the best way to go is one step at a time!
